UITP Academy is organising a series of webinars in the framework of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) outbreak and beyond.
This one hour webinar will take place in English and is free of charge. The recording of the webinar will be available afterwards in MyLibrary.
- What to expect:
The health crisis caused by COVID-19 has had a big impact on all aspects of our daily activities. The way we plan and implement the exit strategies will definitively determine our future. Let´s re-activate activities contributing to sustainable development, i.e. clean energy and sustainable mobility with efficient and integrated public transport systems as the backbone.
Ultimately we feel this is an unmissable opportunity to change things for the better by getting urban space back to people. In order to reduce the negative stigma associated with public transport in several parts of the world, public transport and active mobility should be recognised and implemented at the core of climate actions.
It is essential that we secure more ambitious national commitments – particularly from the main emitters – to immediately start reducing greenhouse gas emissions at a pace consistent to reaching carbon neutrality by 2050. To fulfil the Paris goals, far tougher targets on emissions are needed.
A distinguished panel, including COP 25 High-Level Champion for Climate Action, Ambassador of our ONEPLANet Global Campaign, will highlight the immediate efforts faced by the sector and our contribution to the wider sustainability challenges of the day and that of tomorrow.
